Helping the Environment with Carbon Offsets

“When you buy a new car from Bill Lilley Automotive you can rest a little easier about our environment in the knowledge that we will plant a tree to help offset the exhaust gas emissions from your new car.”

From 1st January 2007 Bill Lilley Automotive will plant a tree for every new car sold. The trees will be planted on a property known as “River Gums”, which is nestled in the Urila Valley. “River Gums” is a grazing property currently owned by Dealer Principal and Founder Bill Lilley.

“River Gums” is situated on the banks of the Queanbeyan River, upstream from Googong Dam, so not only will customers be helping the environment with carbon sequestration, maintenance of water quality, and habitat preservation but also they will be achieving this goal locally in our own water catchment area.

Customers can even have a tree tag engraved with their name, so that in the future their efforts will be recognised. The first planting is scheduled for August 2008, fencing and soil preparation are currently being undertaken. Dealership staff and customers will be encouraged to participate in the planting, however their participation is not critical for the plan.

Dealer Principal Bill Lilley’s farming enterprise “River Gums Farm” will manage the planting and maintenance of the trees. The property is currently used for breeding Wagyu Cattle. Mr. Lilley has extensive experience in land management and holds a Department of Agriculture “Farm Management” certificate from 1982, plus “Cattle Artificial Insemination” and “Cattle Fertility” certificates.
